MID INFRARED FIBERS’ EXTENDED SPECTRAL RANGE ALLOW IN-SITU MONITORING IN PETRO-CHEMICAL PROCESSING PLANT
Montreal, Canada, February 26, 2008 – IRphotonics, a leading provider of infrared fiber and materials, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a contract by ABB to supply Infrared Optical fiber assemblies for use up to 2500nm for their remote, multi-cell extractive fiber-optic based analyzer systems. These analyzers allow remote real-time monitoring of continuous and batch processes in the refining, chemical, pharmaceutical, food and semiconductor industries.
“We are extremely proud to be selected as ABB’s infrared fiber supplier for selected remote fiberoptic based analyzer systems,” states IRphotonics’ CEO, Eric Geoffrion. “Due to the demanding environment these analyzers will be operating in, the technology development and selection process was the most rigorous that IRphotonics has ever experienced and took almost six month to complete. We are excited to be involved with a world-class company such as ABB and we look forward to the deployment of their first units.”
Andreas Strauch Director Product Line Management at ABB Group Analytical Business stated, “We have investigated numerous infrared transmitting fibers and IRphotonics had the best technical solution to allow us to expand the spectral range of some of our fiber-optic based analyzer systems to 2500nm and beyond. “
